well, my brother managed to drop one my 10w6v2s when we were putting them into a different box, now the plastick part on the back of the magnet that has the JL logo fell off, apparentlly it is an air vent or smething, all that fell off is a plstick disc with a jl logo on it, so i put m sub back in the origanal box i was using and it sounds the same, but i cant help but wonder if im loosing sound sound quality, or if this missing part will actually make the sub over heat, any information to calm my nerves would be appreciated

Sorry to hear about your sub. so is there a big hole  now the size of the logo or does it taper back to a smaller hole like most subs have. I was looking on their site and if you look  on page 3 of this link and look at #5 Im guessing this is what your worried about. http://mobile.jlaudio.com/pdfs/7954.pdf

It says that it works with the cone venting but im not sure if that plastic piece is just for looks or if it makes air go back up the pole and out the cone vents.

hopefully someone else will answer that has had this happen before and can add more hands on input.

dropping a magnet will make it lose some of its magnetic strength

I'm a JL dealer. Don't worry about it, your sub is fine.
There is no such thing as free installation!
