Is there any disadvantages in running 4 subs compared to 2 subs to achieve the same overall RMS? As in like 2 12" subs with about 700 rms each compared to 4 12" subs with around 350 rms a piece. Would be connected to a 1500rms.1 amp wired up either way to achieve a 2ohm load. Would they sound about the same and just be taking up more space? Also is there anything wrong with running 4 of the same subs in 2 different type boxes? As in 1 bandpass/1 sealed or 1 sealed/1 ported or would all in same type box work best?

4 woofers with the same total power = 2 woofers +3db. 4 woofers with twice the total power = 2 woofers +6db. This assumes the same types of woofers in the same kinds of enclosures.

also with 4 woofers of the same kinda vs the 2 woofers, less power compression

4 would definately give you more surface area and alot better spl

I would recommend sticking with an enclosure/s that has equal volume and tuning for each sub.
