I'm running (6) JL W3V2D6's from (2) JL 1000/1's and a 350/4 for mids and highs. I currently have a yellow top batt in the back for the system. This is in a 2001 Grand Jeep Cherokee Larado with a Inline V6 4.0 liter engine. Unfortunatly the stock alternator is only 136amps no where near the needed.

Possible Solutions:

1: Where and should I get a high output alternator (min of 300amps) for the enitre car

2: Run 2 stock altenators

3: Run a seperate electercial system for the system utilizing a second high current alternator or another stock alternator, with 2 8 volt batterys (16 volt system)

4: Or run just a high current alterntor for the entire car

*note the car is being used for spl competition

If anybody has ANY input or segestions please let me know; I live in the Winston-Salem area.

300 amps is an extremely large alternator and you probably won’t find one that big. Now I hope you know that this isn’t going to be cheap probably $1000+ when all is said and done. Now the best thing to do is contact a high output alternator builder such as Wrangler NW Power Products or Mr. Alternator . Now if you call them they will be able to figure out a way to give you 300 amps. I have used both of these company’s in the past and have been very happy with the end results.

It will be difficult to

1. Find an alternator cranking out 300a-not to mention extremely expensive if you did find one

2. Add a second alternator under your hood

I just purchased a high output alternator from ohio generator--it cost me $500 for 200a. They build direct factory replacements for most vehicles. You could possibly add the same alternator that I have. Check out www.splmax.com and click on ohio generator. They have an online catalog and a form that you can email with your vehicle info.

I also replaced the 136a factory alternator---made by nippondenso

If you have chosen to go with yellow tops, you will need to exchange the one under the hood and add another one to the one you already have in the back.

------if you do find a 300a alternator, let me know, I would be interested in one as well, I settled for the one I have now.

or look at a Stinger or similar in the 200A+ range and be ready to have brackets made to mount it.

I use a 1994 Laredo myself, but my stock alt is 70A. I dropped a Lestek 150A in it, and now have gone to a hopped up 165A drop-in.

Works wonderfully for me, but then I went for a different approach and didn't go for raw power/brute force.

I go for sound quality over raw SPL.

Anybod got any ideas about the seperate electrical system, I allready have 0 gauge cables running to the rear compartment.
