We have a installation disc and notes that we sell to beginner/novice installers. Email us for more information if interested. There is also alot of information on the internet, just have to be able to find it and have the time to experiment with what you learned.

From what I have seen of this site..you're starting in the right place. There seems to be someone on here that knows a little about any automotive electronics question that you come across! I have only been a member of this group for a short time and I have done quite a bit of automotive electronics work over the last 30 years. I continue to be impressed by the knowlege of some of these guys!!!        Good luck.....

your best bet is talking to alot of people and doing your own research. Everyone is going to have their own opinion about whats hot and what's not. You'll get better at this w/experiance. I started off 17 years ago with very little knowledge myself. Only the intrest in what makes this work and how can I get my car to sound like theirs. Just look over peoples shoulders and ask alot of questions.

Hey NetDND,

There are some schools that offer training in auto electronics such as CIE http://www.cie-wc.edu/Course7.htm or Installer Institute: http://www.installerinstitute.com/ or Mobile Dynamics at this link: http://208.186.209.135/main/1home.html and are really great.  CIE is the basics but don't shrug it off until you look and the last two are a little more advanced.   Where do I learn about car electronics? - Last Post -- posted image.

Go to Amazon.com, search for "MECP Basic Installer's Study Guide", buy it, read it, study it, & memorize it. Do that, & you'll know more than most installers out there (including me), not to mention you'll know what you're talking about when asking advanced installers questions.
