I just added some boom to my 97 M3 and it just doesn't seem as loud as it should be. I already had a nice deck, the newest Alpine CDA-9887 and I added a JL Audio 500/1 Monoblock amp and a ported box with 2 10 inch JL Audio 10W6's, this thing should be blowing my back seat out and unless I turn it up really high I don't get much boom. I have the box firing right into the back seat but this car has a whole metal plate behind the back seat, do you think the sound just isn't getting though that?? Should I try facing the speaker towards the back of the car or even firing straight up, or so you think there might be some other problem?? Thanks!

Who tuned the amp. Try taking it by a local custom shop and have them tune. They will probably do it for cheap if not free depending on how the install was done.

def try firing the box towards the rear of the trunk....basically a low frequency needs room to create itself. and also by facing the subs toward the front of the vehicle you get alof of cancelling issues. so by facing it toward the rear you should get a large amount of increase in sound and much better sounding bass.

turn'em around and watch what happens!

Sweet! Now I can't wait to get home from work and try it. Thanks so much. I was getting real upset, I mean you spend the money for top quality components and then don't get the desired results, its very disheartening  :-(

WOW! Something so simple, I can't believe the difference. I turned the box around and it sounds fantastic!
