I was working on a friends CRV today and I messed something up. I need help... I was putting in a new stereo so I attached the wire harness - the yellow "memory" wire went dead for some reason and so did his keyless entry. I'm thinking they may be on thge same circuit or fuse or whatever. If anyone has any idea - please help me!!!

Thats a new one. Unless their is something specific to the CRV, the two wouldnt have anything to do with each other.
You checked and/or changed the fuse for the stereo?
You are absolutely sure you connected all the wires correctly to the harness? Double check.

I put back in the factory HU... it has a "anti-theft" on it that blinks. That light was dead. They must be linked somewhere, somehow. Maybe all of the 12v stuff that stays on when the ignition is off, is on the same fuse???

What year CR-V is this ? I know that Honda has their keyless entry system go throught he OEM deck and when removed, it is non-operational.

It is a 2002 Honda CRV. Is that the problem? Is a after-market HU not even an option? I need to fix this - thanks for all of your help so far!

I was told one time by on eof the techs here at the local Honda dealership that the keyless entry system has a ground loop where one of the wires loops into the OEM radio and grounds out the keyless entry module to operate. I can't remember if it's a BLUE or a BLACK wire that needs to see ground ?

Jeff and others-- I think it's the blue wire, although I'm not 100% sure, but I remember that when I last did one of these I figured it out just by testing the wires and seeing which one would make the dome light turn on.  I thought that the keyless was only built in to the 96-97 civic?
