I installed a avic d3 into an 2001 Audi S4, i used the Metra amplified vw/audi antenna adapter 40-VW54 . I can hardly tune to any radio channel, all the connections are right. Should i have just used a normal antenna adapter instead of the amplified one? thanks!

2001 may be a little early for this, Does the vehicle have a power antenna wire in the harness of the vehicle.  If so did you connect it to the power antenna wire of the D3?

no power antenna wire since the antenna is in the rear window, ive been told that the factory deck sends power into the antenna wire, thats whey the powered antenna adapter is needed.
