so i installed  a pair of speakers in an 01 camaro with the monsoon system a couple of months ago, everything sounded good but yesterday the customer came back complaining that the RF speaker pops everytime you turn the car on or off. i checked the speakers to make sure there wasnt anything shorting out or that there were any  loose connenctions, everything looked fine. actually listening to the system it sounded good. has anyone ran into this problem? or know a solution? The vehicle does have T-Tops and the customer did notice some water on his floor behind the passenger seat, if that helps any.

Sounds like an amp problem to me.  A possible easy remedy would be to try a capacitor on each of the front speakers.  A capacitor will block DC voltage.  It may cut the pop down to a reasonable level.

what size would you suggest? and would it need to be parallel to the speaker or in series with one of the leads?

200 microfarad capacitor will block virtually no bass response but it will block the DC voltage.  You put the cap in series with the speaker, on the positive wire.  You need to make sure it is a non polarized capacitor.  A cap sold for a speaker crossover will be non polarized.  If you can't find a 200 mic  get the biggest thing they have.

It's no big deal. What's happening when you turn on the vehicle is that the amp is turning on before the head unit. I used to have that and it was quite loud when I had my Kicker amp. With my RF its much quieter. He shouldn't worry, it won't damage anything.
