I did not install a starter interupt on this vehicle, only a remote starter and keyless entry. Would the lack of a strong enough signal from the remote starter factory disarm wire be enough to cause the check engine light to be set off and give a false code about the transmission to have failed? This is a new one for me and I am not sure where to go to fix this problem.

To be honest, I'm not quite sure why you're getting the check engine light.

I've seen bad transponder bypasses send off check engine lights or other strange lights on the dash -- so it may be time to replace that transponder bypass kit.

I am using the PKH2 I got from 12 volt shop .com. When I plug in the brain of the remote starter and use the key to start the car I still get the check engine light and transmission problems, the dealer stated that there was a short to ground when they did their diagnostics. I think there might be something wrong with the remote starter itself or may the bypass kit.

What is the make and model of the remote starter you are installing?
I have never had a problem with the PKH2, it has proven to be bullet proof for me. If the dealer is saying the system is reporting a short to ground it leads me to believe either you have something wired incorrectly or the system's internal relays (if equipped) are shorting to ground. Either way with the make and model of the remote start itself someone here may be able to offer you suggestions.
Installer, IT support, and FFL. I need less hobbies.

I ran into the same problem today. With all the warnings about the starter interrupt (I believe is standard on the Python 990 which I am installing) I for some reason wired it after the fuse box. Even after the warnings. Shows you what 12 hours of working in the cold does.
Could this cause my remote start from cranking but the engine does not turn over (as if the gas pump is cut, etc.)?

I did not install the starter interupt on this vehicle, just the remote starter and keyless entry.
