Hey everyone,

I have a Valor multimedia head unit and when I play a DVD there is a loud crackling noise coming from my speakers, mainly from my passenger door speaker. This also happens when I use my Ipod, and not as much during a CD and the radio.I have two sets of component speakers in my doors, two 12 inch subs, and one 4 channel amp, and one sub mono amp. All the equipment is Alpine except my head unit. Is the crackling because of bad wiring? I think so. Should I buy a better wiring kit and rewire everything? Could this also be because of the wires being too close together? Or could this be because I have a Valor head unit with Alpine speakers, subs and amps. Also, there is a lot of white noise coming through the speakers when I turn them on with the amps.

Any suggestions and advice would be great.

Also every time I push the gas pedal down, a high pitched noise comes into my car. My guess is that this is because of my alternator. I think what happens is that when I push down the pedal the battery gets drawn into my car through the alternator, thus every time I push down the pedal more and more a louder higher pitched noise comes into my car has the alternator turns faster. I think this noise is coming through my car speakers.

Any ideas on how to fix/stop/prevent this noise??

Valor may be a great priced unit (black Friday we had the 701 for $247), but it's outputs are very dirty. I am assuming you have the gain WAY up on the amps?.....hence the hiss. Pull the RCA out of the amp, & swap right & left, if the other speaker now crackles, you know it is rca or head unit, if the same speaker still crackles, it is amp, wires, or speaker/ x-over.

Def. set the gains again, as it sound like they are at full sensitivity.

you posted while I was writing my mine......

what you have is called alternator whine. MOST of the time it is caused by having a ground loop. meaning the ground potential at the amp grounds are different than the ground potential at the deck. This is commonly cause by using the factory wiring for the deck, or not having a good ground on the amps.

Check the ground at the amps, & make shure it is tight, & to bare metal (not a painted surface). IF that does not cure it, reground the head unit to the kick panel (like you would an alarm).

Also, remember to set the gains correctly.

If I used a capacitor or a filter, would that make the high pitched noise go away?

The gains are the knobs on the amp that match (when set properly) the voltage level from the RCA's from the deck to the output level of the amp.

Turn them all the way down, noting where they were, and see if the noise is gone.
