I am trying to use the OBD to get a switched power signal. On my Ford F-150 there is a pin that goes to 12v when the ignition starts. I tried the same thing on a 2008 GMC, and a 2000 Lexus, neither had a pin that went to 12v when the vehicle was started.
I need a really quick way to install a GPS tracking system, but need power, ground and ignition. Does anyone know if pin 7 on the Ford OBD goes to 12v on all Ford vehicles when ignition is started?
Any suggestions on a super quick install for power, ground and ignition?

just tap into the ignition loom that come out the end of the steering column, or take out the radio for an ign sw feed

I think what the guy is saying, is he cannot find one at the radio. Tap into the Cig. lighter...not power outlet.

ON 200-new GM trucks, in the connection box in the drivers kick. Top row....2nd or 3rd pin from the left is ign. switched

used to be loud, used to be fast...now I am married LOL

Thanks, for the feedback. I am trying to install hundreds of these at a time, and now I am using the OBD plug and that is the fastest way, so far to get power and ground. I also need ignition, but am determining the only way to get that is to hit the ignition harness. I was looking for a shortcut, but perhaps there is not one.
