hyundai factory security system

Hello I'm new here and would first like to say you guys have a fantastic forum here. I've been searching quite a bit this afternoon and found most of the answers to my questions. There is one question I want to make sure I'm clear on before going forward with the remote starter install on my wife's 2002 Hyundai Santa fe. In my searching I've read that the only way to arm or disarm the Hyundai factory security system is with the OE Hyundai key fob. Fair enough. I bought a Compustar remote starter with unlock/lock feature. Would I be OK to just leave the factory alarm system unarmed and use the Compustar key fob to unlock and lock the doors/remote start the car? I know this will leave the car without the alarm armed but I'm not worried about that theft is not really a problem around here and there is nothing in the car worth stealing. Is there a flaw in my thinking that would prevent the system from working as I outlined above? Thanks again for all the great info on this forum!

That will be fine to do that you could install the starter kill if you did want to try to maintain some security.

Yes, that will work fine. Be sure to ALWAYS lock the doors with the Compustar remote, though. If you were to lock the door using the power-lock switch on the door panel, and then close the door, the factory alarm might arm. It's a good idea to leave the factory remote inside the car, such as in the glove box, just in case the system becomes armed while you're traveling.
