idatalink bypass

This question is in regards to bypasses. I normally purchase units from www.bypasskit.com but have since stumbled upon the Idatalink bypasses and I’m thinking of switching to those. I’m going to use a 2007 Chevy Trailblazer for my example.. When I enter that vehicle at http://www.idatalink.ca/cstopper/ it says OFA-10, OFA-20, and OFA-30 will all work. It looks like the 20 and 30 will do pretty much all functions.. What I normally would use for this vehicle would be a GMDL-BP bypass which also does almost all those functions. If I used an OFA module instead of the GMDL-BP it would save me a lot of time because of the Idatalink cable plugging directly into my Crimestopper's dataport, right? I wouldn’t have to hook up the ground out when running, ground, 12v, lock, unlock, etc? Sorry if this is a dumb question but I’m getting excited thinking about the time I can save by using these.

as long as your unit(crimestopper) has the R232(or 323, the R something) port then yah its just a plug and play set-up.

With the rs232 port you should only have to hook up 3 wires data tach and ign.

The only thing to watch for is that the RS232 port on the RS system is capable of performing full functions of the module. You will have to ask your tech support to see if the remote starter is infact capable of doing this and they will be able to tell you if the version and firmware of the RS is new enough to support the module.Jeff
