I don't see much information regarding the 1701G when I do a search and the the only information I see on 07 Escalades is older than the 1701G so that is not very helpful either. Has anyone done an 07 Escalade with a 1701G?
I am sking because the 1701G manual makes it look like the installing a starter on this vehicle is easier than 93 chevy Pickup. I mean you do all of the work at bench and then you hook up a few wires in the car and you're done. It seems like a crime to charge money for labor if there is a factory remote start. At least that is the feeling I get when I read the manual.
I have a customer who wants a RS installed in his. I looked at the factory fob and it looks like there is a remote start button on it, but nothing happens when I push it. It looks like an arrow bent in a circle. How else could I tell if there was a factory remote start?
I am just trying to decide if i want to take this job on or if I am going to end up married to this F'n truck when the 1701G decides it wants out of the relationship.
Any comments, questions or snide remarks welcome.

The 1701G is just a bypass module is it not ? If the vehicle has a OEM remote starter the dealer has to use a scan tool to download the software .... from what I understand. Afterwards what you can do is upgrade the OEM system to a longer range 2 way from bypasskit.com.

Hey I just purchased an audiovox aps998 and dei1701g for a 2007 gmc sierra. I currently have oem remote starte and the 1701g will let me use the oem programming to start the vehicle. In the Driver information center i can turn on or off the remote start function it needs to be on for the 1701g to activate the oem remote start or for the oem key fob to activate the remte start. Also you have to press the lock button once then hold the start button for 2 seconds on the oem fob to get it to start. Hey anyone out there i need help with the 1701g does the WHITE/ blue (-) wire need a pulse to start and stop or a constant on to keep running and remove to shut off. Also on the aps998 should i connect the 1701g WHITE/ blue to the heavy gauge starter wire of the aps998.

Thanks all

I do not fully understand the manual yet nor do I have any experience with this module, hence the reason for starting this thread, but I am pretty sure that if the vehicle has a factory RS, all you need to do is use an auxilliary output (trunk output or extra output) from the aftermarket unit to pulse the WHITE/ blue wire on the 1701G and the 1701G tells the car to start the car via the factory RS. It is unclear, but I assume sending the same signal again while the car is running would make the car shut off.
The question I now have is: Is there anyone out there that has seen a vehicle without OEM RS that has the RS button on the Factory Remote? I tried to press the RS button on this remote, but nothing happened, so I assumed it did not have a factory RS, but it may have been turned off via the driver information center. Either way, my question about the 1701G still stands. Does it work the way the manual makes you think it will?
Take a look at the manaul, it really makes this install seem like a piece of cake.

I will let you know tomorrow I am picking my 1701g up tomorrow moring and planning on installing it asap it is cold in illinois. I hope it is as easy as the instructions state. I have had other dei modules in other vehicle and they are good at doing what they say. But then again i put a gm-sl in my wifes 2003 envoy and it was really nice it worked the driver 1 and 2 priority thru databus. Dei needs to get on that ball. Once again i agree with you that the 1701a pulse on to remote oem start and a pulse to shut off remote oem start.. but the aps998 does not have the option out for the start just has ignition and crank type wires. ANYONE ELSE PLEASE HELP I will be installing tomorrow.

Thanks all

If it has the button, it has the remote start. You have to hit lock and then push and hold the start button for 2 seconds for the OEM start.
