okay so its a 1999 f150 that i brought back to life...its basically a work truck that me and my bro like to trash...the air filter has dirt caked all in it...its ridiculous....i was wondering what the deal is on intakes i see/hear alot of ppl add it on ,but does it really make a difference?...i know anything will make a difference in THAT particular truck. but i was thinking about putting one in my new truck also if i liked what it did on my old one...i would just like to hear some opinions on the subject...i was thinking about putting a k&n..

K&N have awesome intakes, pricey though. If you want just a cone filter you can get one off of ebay for about $20. If you want the WHOLE tubing and everything you have several options, Airraid, Volant, K&N, AEM, and a whole bunch more. And yes they make alot of diffrence, the lest restriction you have in any motor it will run a hell of alot better. I would deff shop around though because even though you gain 2-5 MPG it will take years to pay for itself if you drop $300 on one.
