My Dad wants me to wire up a remote start system on His portable generator that He uses on construction sites. He wants to be able to start it and shut it down remotely whenever He wants.

I know i can do it no problem, but how can i make it stay running for as long as He wants instead of just 10 or 15 minutes? Are there any remote start units out there with an option for "infinity" run time? Obviously I would need a very basic system (no alarm or keyless entry). Any ideas?

What's involved in starting the generator normally?.. Do you have to set a choke or anything else like that? I'd look to parallel the start/run circuit personally.. but it all depends on what's involved in starting it.

No choke needed unless it's dead cold (he'll start it manually once in the morning and warm it up a bit). I'm not sure what You mean by "parallel the start/run circuit". Could You explain?
