I want someone else'e opinion on this. I have the situtation to get one Alpine Type x 12" sub to run in my car. The sub is brand new still sealed in the box. I have a Diamond Audio 1000.1 D3 amp to power the sub. The big question is this: The sub is dual 4 ohm and I will be running only one of them, how do you think that will sound in the trunk with a sealed enclouser. I know that I won't get the most out of my amp due to it seeing only 2-ohms. I am going for sound quality. Any opinions on this is greatly appreiciated. Thanks.

At 2ohms you'll get around 550, 600 watts. The sub will love it. I am a sealed enclosure fan myself. (not a bass head)

I sold Alpine (before the flood) and the customers I had loved the sub's.

hey mate, Im running a single 12" type X off the alpine amp designed for it, he PDX-1.1000 which runs 1000W RMS at 4&2OHMS.. the sub being DVC I have it wired from the amp to the first VC & then piggy backed to the second DVC.

That amp is awesome for it cuz it runs 1000WRMS at 2OHMS!!! because the resistance is halved by the DVC but the amp will still do it... and it is RATED!!!

it sounds awesome, and if you really want the most from your sub, dont muck around, get the amp desiggned for it!

sorry if that didnt help at all, just thought id mention it. I got all alpine gear in my ride, all Type X, so any questions, hit me up.

Listen if you are going for sound quality why would you run one 12" sub of any brand with alot of power, the way that sound quality should be set up is not of this nature.  I would suggest a customized enclosure at the front of the vehicle to bring the bass up but not the volume
