I have a Nakamichi listening station (one of those things you see in stereo stores for demoing cd's)that has outputs only for earphones (2 of them) and i also have some McIntosh speakers (home speakers ,separates) and a couple of Nakamichi amps (car amps). So this is my plan: i would like to put all this together.I know i will need a steady supply of clean 12V source, but can i add a low level converter to convert Nakamichi's earphone plugs and feed that into the Nakamichi car amps, would that work ?,do i need to change anything else ?,i'm a bit concerned about the different impedance...
Thank you

The SQ would not be very good if you can do it. Remember that your converting a converted signal and chances are it's not going to be great if you start turning it up. Try it though..... you have the equipment there and a LOC isn't that much $$$.

Depending on how comfortable you are with electronis, you could open up the listening station and tap into the signal before the internal amplifier.  If it only has headphone outputs, there should be a small amp inside.  Instead of converting to a low-level signal and amping that, just amplify the original source signal.  An idea, anyway.

That's a great idea,i'm confortable with electrical stuff but not so with electronics, but i may open this listening station up and i figure the wires going to the phone plugs should indicate the amp,so i'm looking for 4 wires then (2/ear phone plug...right ?),i will try.
Thank you all for the help and ideas,if anyone can be more indicative to this ,please help.
Thank you
Dan

And one last thing, can someone tell me how much amperage my power supply should be for powering 2 amps ?,i probably will connect a sub let's say 100 Watts and another with 35 W x 2.Will a 35 A be enough ?
Thank you

yes that should be a big enough power supply.  What is the fuse rating for the amplifiers you are using?  If you really want to be sure you just add up the fuse ratings for all the amps and then get a power supply that puts out that amount of power.
