Hi,

I have a problem with my Pioneer AVX7300 screen and AVM7000 brain in my E36 328 BMW. Basically, I hooked it up last week according to instructions and everything appears to be working fine. After driving for 30-40 minutes, black horizontal lines start emerging on the screen. Looks like some kind of static or interference is building up.... As i rev the car the amount of black lines visible on the screen seems to increase and eventually within 5 minutes the image on the screen gets totally erased with the black lines and screen becomes pitch black. If the car sits for a couple of hours and I start it again and problem repeats but this time after 5-10 minutes... It seems to me something is seriously wrong and I'm not sure what it is.

Here's how the stuff is connected as far as power is concerned...

AVX screen: Constant + Accessory wires are tapped into the OEM harness. Hand brake detection wire (to enable video when parking brake is not engaged) and ground wire are tapped into the ground wire of the OEM harness.

AVM brain (under rear seat): Constant + Accessory wires are tapped into the front OEM radio harness... I ran two wires to the back of the car from the OEM harness. They are connected in the same spot as the AVX screen wires. Ground wire is hooked up to a seatbelt bolt in the back of the car. Hand brake detection wire is grounded in another location... once again to make sure the video can be viewed when parking brake is not engaged.

I'm trying to resolve this situation and so far I have no Idea how it can be fixed. If you could please help me, i'd appreciate it a lot!

Things to look for:

  • 1. Make sure that the RCA wires are not in contact with any power wires or speaker wires
  • 2. ensure proper ground and make sure that it is clean of dirt, grease or paint
  • 3. Ground wire should still be short as possible to ensure proper ground

That is already done.... still problem persists. I regrounded the screen and now it appears to be better, but still gets f**ked up after a longer period of time.
