I’m building three enclosed amp racks. To cool them I know I need fans, so I plan on using six fans 2 for each rack. My question is how do I hook them up? I'm afraid if I hook them up off fused block in the trunk I will get interference. Also If I hook them up to my remote turn on I will get interference. Any suggestions on how to keep my amps cool and interference free.

I would run them off a relay where the remote turn on will activate the relay to engage the fans. Wire a relay in this configuration:

  • 86 : GROUND
  • 87 : Amp remote wire
  • 85 : 12 volts + input
  • 30 : ( + )  of the fan(s)
  • 87a : NOT USED

The pin 85 can be wire straight to the distribution block for the amplifiers, but just to be sure you should fuse this connection.
