yeah, I have a 1990 corolla and i'm going to go ahead and try a few things with fiberglass in it. i just wanted to know what everyone thought of it all. I'm going to try and do over the sun visors in f/g and mold in a mirror to teh passenger side, and on both sides on the part that would be visible when the visors were up would have a spade raised up from it. what woudl be the best way to do the spades and would it be hard to do the visors? I've never really read anywhere about two-sided stuff.

I am also making door panels for some speakers that are i believe 6 1/2's. i just rigged them up to teh door for now because i needed new front speakers, but i'm dealing with a large flat area and if i wanted to have the f/g come from the edge of the speaker and not be sloped all the way to the end of the panel, hwo woudl i do this? if it's too complicated to think of, i'll post some pictures of what i want.. here is a link to what the door panel looks like:

I am also going to be making a rear deck out of f/g and wanted to know what woudl be the best way to have a valley between the two 6x9's.. would i be able to just wrap the box in two seperate pieces of fabric and staple them down in the middle or... what are my options? this will probable be the last thing i do out of the three projects since it's teh most complicated i believe.. maybe.. I have no idea actually.  I may re-do my center console also.. I heard the best way for a center consoel is to cut it from foam first.. true? how would I attatch the new one to the existing console minus the plastic outer shell.. if anyone wants me to be more specific and show some sketches of what I want, just let me know, i'm online all the time and will probably check this 3 times a day..

if I can get the money and experience, i'm thinking about re-doing my ceiling in f/g. only thing is i don't know how it would fit in since it couldn't bend.. take teh front seat out?doors?

Sounds good man go for it and post your pics. it looks like you have some work on your hands. But first just think to yourself, do you really want to do all that? Some of it like the visor thing looks like its not gonna turn out like u want. I could be wrong, but practice on something easier like a box for a speaker or something. If you start big and you mess up, you lose a lot of money.

I agree. I sounds like you'r tring to start a little big. The door panels would be a good place to start but until you get the hang of things I would stay away from doing a headliner. Also with the sunvisors I'm not sure if fiberglass is the way you should go at all. To get the spades you can just carve them out of styrofoam and glue them to your existing visors. Then cover the whole thing in the fabric of your choice. Check out HzEmall.com for some ideas.

thanks. I knew some of it was a little ahead of me, but I wasn't going to jump on and do everything quick. I've just been reading up about fiberglassing stuff and though "what coudl I do in my car?" and the sun visor seemed like an idea. I saw on some show on spike tv a guy made a kick panel and used a whoel sheet of mat instead of chopping it up and doing it one by one. would that be ok ONLY if i was going to vinyl it after? also he used some sort of heat gun when he vinyled it. is that necessary?

I was thinking that if i did the edges of the visor, let that dry, then one side, then the other side, it woudl be easier to do since i wouldn't have the whole thing covered in resin at once..

ok that whole sheet isn't good unless u work quickly its a little harder to work with as well   the only thing aout vinyl is that it doesn't show pin holes as much   but it does show lumps so whatever you use just make sure you sand it down enough as far as the heat gun goes, it isn't needed but is convienent when applying the vinyl. the heat gun only softens the material making it more lexible and form fitting. the visor would be cool if you could do it well i'd only say go to a junkyard and find a visor in there for a few bucks and practice on that

The heat gun is for heat formable vinyl. Its really only needed if you are doing really tight curves.
