shiva x, mtx thunder 302

Hello All, I've been lurking and trying to absorb as much info from all the posts but I'd appreciate some advice. I recently bought some old amps from a friend: MTX Thunder 302 & an Eclipse 3640. Both for $80 btw. I've googled them both. I have a 97 Ford Ranger w/ ext. Cab w/ a pair of Boston Acoustic 5x7's in the doors i bought back in 97. Stock 5x7's in the rear panels. Head unit is an Alpine CDE9843. The truck has the V6 4.0L in it so i believe the alternator is rated 95A. I will eventually replace the BA's in the doors but for now I need to replace the stock 5x7's and install a sub in the cab. I've designed and will build a sealed 1.5 cu.ft. enclosure to occupy the space directly behind the drivers seat for a Shiva-X. Need to keep the cab space behind passenger free for storage, etc. I'm looking for SQ only w/ around $200 for sub & rear 5x7's. I do have my heart set on the Shiva-X unless there's an issue. I have concerns w/ heat (amps under the seats?) & power. Also need advice concerning using crossovers vs. amp built-in filters. I've already learned a great deal from many of you from previous posts and would like to say thanks for sharing. Any suggestion/advice is much appreciated. cadguy

Thanks stevdart. Will take your advice on using the amp filters. Here's a link to the MTX Thunder 302. Will that push the Shiva sufficiently? Again, I don't care about SPL. Does anyone have any experience with the Shiva in a sealed 1.5cu.ft. box?? If i increase the volume of the box can i assume i will lose some power? I'd really appreciate some opinions on this one. Couldn't find any official info on the Eclipse but it's 4x60W and reviews say its power is under rated. I'm assuming 4x60W for the front stage will match up w/ the Shiva. Would you agree? Any suggestions for the rear 5x7's?
