Where does the remote wire from the amp get connected to? I am doing this for the first time by myself and I want to learn it the right way.

It goes to the remote turn on lead from the head unit or a switched ignition source.

I believe the solid blue wire is the power antenna wire, which can be used instead of a remote wire from the head unit. Most Factory units don't have a remote wire, which is usually blue with a white stripe on aftermarket head units.
You may have problems with the power antenna wire though! Some head units do not send power to this wire unless the radio (not CD or tape player) is on. If this happens, use Velocity's advice and tap into a switched 12volt ignition source

as long as the head unit has the the blue wire there shouldn't be a problem. the reason that you would use it for the antenna is to raise the antenna up and down from the radio if the antenna is power. if you have a factory radio i know as far as gm you tap into the yellow wire that is on the harness.

DO NOT use the BLUE wire for the remote turn on lead if it has a BLUE/WHITE wire. The BLUE should only be used if there is no BLUE/WHITE wire because the BLUE wire is the power antenna wire and if a BLUE/WHITE is present , that means that the BLUE wire will only activate when the tuner is selected. The BLUE/WHITE wire will turn on when the power of the HU is turned on.

If your head unit has neither blue nor blue/white, hook it up to the switched power lead (I'd probably use a resistor between them). You could put a switch on it because this will put it on when the car is on, even if the head unit is off, so only do this if you have to. I doubt this will be the case, but there's my 2 cents.

If the HU has neither, then I suggest trading that thing in for one that has at least a power antenna output.

You can find a switched ign. wire at your fuse box if you can't find one on your radio and don't wat to dig apart to much of your dash.
