Ok I want to first mount my Alpine CDA-7965 head unit "guts" out of sight ...like behind the dash or Under the seat in a small enclosure (this is a dry unit-no on-board power so heat wont be a huge issue but I am mounting a small exhaust fan w/temperature controlled switch to be safe)
I want to mount the face of the head unit either in the upper dash or up by the rear view mirror..I havent fully decided yet.
<U>My question or concern is..that there will be a limit to how far from the "guts" I can mount the "face"</U> I'm sure there is a limit
*I will be using either 22 or 18 gauge wiring.
*I will not need access to the cd slot, I am running (2) 12 disk alpine changers.
*I know the motorized fold down face is awesome..but i'm sort of numb to it's coolness factor now.
*In case I want to disconnect the 2 parts I am using some of them radio shack Barrier Strips (2) 8 position....the HU has 15 contacts.
I figured I could find out myself by running the wires to length..and testing/cutting down, testing/cutting down and repeating over and over...but I hope this will be more helpful.
I think I put in all the info that should be needed..if not hopefully someone will ask and not ignore the question for lack of info.
Thanks for your help
