Has anyone replace speakers for a 95 VW Passat before? Are the speakers riveted to the door panel like the 98? Any suggestions or ideas to put on the aftermarket speaker would be greatly apprecitated. Thanks.

Yes they are riveted to the door, you have to drill the rivets out and I'd use the same holes for the new speaker if possible, but use screws instead of rivets. When you drill the rivets out, don't go all the way through, only far enough for the rivet to separate so that you can just push it out the back side.
