I have a 2001 Pontiac Sunfire with a factory H.U. (AM-FM CD with RDS and SCV)

I will be installing an amp and subwoofer soon and I would like the remote on for the amp to be triggered by the vehicle's R.A.P. (Retained Accessory Power). That way the amp will stay on during the 10 minute period after the ignition is switched off, and then turn off after the 10 minutes has elapsed or until the driver's door is opened. :) (Just like the H.U.)

Does anyone know excatly how I can accomplish this? Which wire do I tap into for the amp's remote on?

You might try searching the fuse box for the RAP relay, and then test the terminals until you find the one that functions properly.........but then you'll still have the amp coming on even if the radio isn't being used....there is an easier way.

Just get one of those devices that senses signal on the speaker wires, and generates a remote turn-on lead. I know that PAC www.go2pac.com makes one, but there are other brands too.

Anyway, whenever the radio is on, the device will sense signal on its speaker wires, and turn on the amp. Therefore, the amp will behave just like the radio does, meaning it'll work under the RAP system too.
