I have a 02 tacoma with a rockford 550x and 800.1. At first i noticed the high pitch whine i was hearing was coming from my 550x and not the 800.1.It seemed to go away when i would move the 4awg power wire around at the amp,but would always return.a couple of days later i noticed upon entering the vehicle, the whine is also in the 0awg main power wire under the vehicle, and in the 550x. the amp plays fine and the whine does not change with rpm. I also use an alumapro cap5. wierd, huh?whining power wire -- posted image.

How did you ground it, mount the amp, and how did you run the rca and power wire?

You hear a whine from the actual wire??? That seems impossible.
