wiring crossover networks in series

Hello All, I have a 4 channel amp driving 2 pairs of component speakers, one pair for the front and one pair to the rear. I would like to add an additional pair of identical component speakers to the front. The component speakers are 2 ohm at the passive crossover, so I would like to wire an additional pair in series, for a 4 ohm total load on each of the front channels. Do you see a problem with this? Will one set of crossovers be out of phase if i wire them in series? Do you foresee any other problems? I'm looking for input on the best way to do this. Thanks. -Todd

Can't do it. Your results would be truly unpredictable, but in almost any case you can imagine, the results won't be enjoyable.It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Ok….what if I wired them in parallel? I believe my amp is stable down to 1ohm in stereo. -Todd

i would be very surprised if your amp was stable at 1 ohm stereo
