I am totaly redoing my system, basically because my old one doesn't work anymore.  One day we were bumpin really hard and the next week everything was cutting in and out.

I was using an MTX 6500D 250wX1@4  500wX1@2, This amp has two sets of output terminals. I had gotten this amp from a friend along with some speakers two 10" kickers.  The model says c10a on the back of them and 8 ohms.  Weird thing is my reseach shows that model is 4ohm...hmmm.  The wattage is not noted anywhere on the speaker, so I don't know at all what it can handle!  Anyway each speaker was hooked up to one of the outputs each.

This is a mono amp, so the two channels are hooked up on parallel (which I didn't know until afterwards and I started investigating)  Here is a quick diagram of what the hookup was.

Spkrs= 8ohms eachAmp= 250wX1@4, 500wX1@2

Now the problem is that when I power it up now I get NO! sound at all.  The power light on the amp is on.  All fuses are good.  Tried moving the gain up and down along with the frequency...nothing.  Coax from deck are good, hmmm what else.  Speakers are good.  Hooked them up to another source and heard sound comming from them.

So what is the problem???  Is the hookup right to work with the stats?  Did I over-power or under-power the amp?  I don't think it is hooked up right, but I would like some opinions.

Sounds  like you wrote it in MS Word or a like program, if you do so you must import it (copy and paste) to note pad. Do another copy and then paste it in the 12volts dialog box where you would normally write the post.
