Hey guys,

A buddy of mine gave me a 6 1/2 sub woofer last night because he didn't need it.  It's a generic 4 ohm 175 watts peak.  I checked it out and is sounds good connected to an old head JVC tape deck I keep for testing purposes but would a sub this size produce any good low level sound?  I was thinking that I could use this in my ford cargo van but I wanted to get some opinions before i go making plans for this thing.

thanks

If your looking for some good low bass then the answer would be no. You would be better off buying a good cheap 10 inch sub. They are generally used in conjunction with a sub for better mid/low bass like Maxst said. Are you going to add this to a factory system or do you have aftermarket equipment?

I was going to add this to a full aftermarket system in my ford cargo van (no seats in the back).  My speakers play loud and extremely clear (almost no distorstion at high volume levels) but i have very little low end sound.

My system specs are as follows:

Head Unit: Panasonic CQ-DP103U 45x4 22 watts RMS

Front Speakers: Pioneer TS-G1647 6.5's

Rear Speakers: Pioneer TS-A6960R 6x9's

All speakers running off the internal amp with 18 guage wire.

Keep in mind i use my van (a full size 87 Ford Econoline 250) to haul stuff (mainly my R/C airplane with a 9 foot wing span) so I need a sub that will fit under one of my front seats.  So any recommendations would be appreciated.
