Alpine Amplifier

So I have this alpine amp and it will only turn on it I have a jumper wire going to 12 volt power terminal. I don’t have any 12 volt on a meter between power and ground until that jumper is put into place. Any thoughts?Paul hoffman

What is the amp (I see it's Alpine but what model number)? You mentioned it won't turn on without a jumper in place but no details about where the jumper is (from where to where- what terminals?). Do you have any pictures? Is this installed on a vehicle? Are you bench testing it?

The jumper wire is going from 12 volt power to the remote terminal. Yes it’s wired up in a car and works great I’m just trying to figure out why because when doing this the amp will stay on all the timePaul hoffman

You have not told us the model number of the amplifier. Troubleshooting is more difficult without all the information. You said you don't measure 12 volts across the power and ground on a meter until that jumper is in place. Is this "meter" a digital display in the amp itself or a multimeter? Have you done a continuity check of the main fuse? Have you measured voltage between the remote terminal and ground with the source unit on? If so, what were your results? Where is the remote turn on wire connected? Have you done a continuity check between the remote terminal and your connection? How long have you had this problem? Did it just start after some work was done? If so, a panel could have pinched the remote wire causing a break. Is this a new install?
