Hey guys, I'm going to install a Sony Xplod cd receiver into my wife's 90 Legend and replace that stock tape deck, I've read on carstereohelp.com that it's easy enough to take out the old stereo and replace it with an aftermarket one, but then I checked installdr.com and their instructions have me ripping the whole dash down and they say that no mounting kit will fit in that car and there needs to be some modifying of the kit and stuff to get it done...like cutting of the kit, mounting the stereo in some funky way with backstraps...
Just wanted to know if anyone had installed a stereo into this year car and had big problems using a kit and getting it to mount properly.

They probably don't have the legend kit and were just going to use the honda multi-kit.  That legend kit still requires you to do a backstrap but at least it includes the instructions and a special backstrap made specifically for this vehicle.  Also, there is no modificiation of the kit itself that is necessary--just follow the directions and you're good to go.

Also remember you'll need a standard honda/acura wiring harness to wire up the aftermarket head unit.

hey esmith69, my kit that i got from advance auto looks just like that one with the support bracket and all, so i guess i'm cool, what installdr.com was talking about was on the kit itself, there are tab-like things that extend off of the trim of the kit, and they make it not fit into the dash or whatever, but i understand how to do the backstrap thing now so i got it no problem, thanx for ur help guys.
