ok i have a 10" audiobahn flame q and a regular truk box and i mounted it isobaric (magnet facing out of the box) and hooked it all up with 16g. wire(speakers) and it sounds like crap...its really not that bad but it still sounds like i dont even have a box! every hole is screwed in and the hole that the wires come thru is liquid nailed. should i liquid nail around were the sub and box connect? somebody help me out! oh and the box is too shallow to mount it regularly. the cone just shakes awful without making good sound-kinda when you sputter your lips...

Thanks

Chuck...B.

What are the dimensions of the box?? Is this a homemade box or something you purchased??

Ok, the problem is that your sub isn't made to be played isobaric.  The only way you can make it sound good having it mounted isobaric is if you have a CD player that will reverse the signal within the deck to output into your amplifier.  Otherwise you aren't letting thte sub move any air because the air that should be moving is sealed within the box.  The Cone of the subwoofer is made to move air and by mounting it isobarically you won't get barely any thump.  Granted I know the audiobahn's baskets look pimp.  I wouldn't recommend mounting it isobarically.  And for the box, you'll either have to buy a new one (I suggest from thezeb.com) or make one yourself.

I believe you can adjust the signal at the amp if it has a Phase adjustment. Switch it to 180 degrees (it's normally 0 degrees).

The way i see this if i'm reading correctly i might be right off but try switching the polarity on the back of the sub so instead of + to + u have + to - and so on. Might be way off but worth a shot.

Actually, I believe that is the best way to switch the phase if the amp is not capible of doing it. The phase switch on amps just makes it a little less confusing, but not all amps have that feature.

How bout that seems like i might of gotten something for once!! :) doesn't mean it's a guarrenteed fix though.... but it's better than spending money first to fix a probably that could be very simple.

Are you sure the box is isobaric? Or did you just mount the sub with the magnet facing outward ( inverted)? Because they are 2 different things and with only one speaker you can not have a isobaric enclosure. Also we need the exact volume of your enclosure and the type (sealed ported etc)? And what make and model amp do you have?
