Hi I want to hook up a seperate battery for my alarm and my stereo.  I have a dry cell but I have to hook it up so it charges.  I ran a wire from the B+ side of my alternator which I would assume would go to the positive side of my extra battery.  For the negative side of the battery can I splice one of the wires going to my main battery's ground  and ground it from there?  I'm thinking I can do this??  Any help on this would be appretiated.  Also my buddy wants to hook up a fan to his amps to keep them relatively cool.  I heard he needs a relay, would this be the right set-up to hook up the relay?

pin 86 = remote wire from radio

pin 85 = ground

pin 87 = constant 12v fused

pin 30 = wire out to amp

You may want to purchase yourself a battery isolator and get one that is at least 120 amp rating or better. This is the best way you can charge both batteries safely without training the alternator and the rest of the electrical system.

You may want to hook up the relay in this configuration:

  • 87 - remote turn on lead from radio
  • 86 - GROUND
  • 85 - Constant 12 v fused
  • 30 - Wire to FAN motor
  • 87a - NOT USED
