i was working on this guys car about 2 months ago and i put in a sub box with 2 10 inch subs this box was a bandpass type. Now the car got into an accident the back of the car was damaged the box seemed ok by the looks of it i had the amps mounted to the back of the sub box. so anyway when it was installed before the accident it sounded pretty good with a lot of bass. So now he tells me to take the amps, radio, and the box and install it in his other car that he has, So i did and the subs sounded like sh*t i mean they were ok sometimes, but then out of no where they made this low frequency gargling like humming sound that i have not heard before, the bass was not playing the same notes as the rest of the speakers it was so off ,then about a day later i find that the amp's built in crossover was not working at all and the bass bost barely works, So i know the amp is damaged but i was wondering about the subs i think the accident may have thrown them out of alighnment or something. Also i had this major alternator whine in this car as well i think maybe it was the amp being broke but i dont know. Does anyone know what the hell that gargling bass is and why it happened?? Do you think it is amp or subs?

Sounds like a grounding issue to me. I have heard that garggling sound before andit ended up being a poor ground at the HU. Another thing to look at is if the accident damaged the solder points inside the amplifier  ? If the amps were attached to the sub enclosure and the box shifted, but the grounding point did  not, then it would have put alot of stress on the terminals and may have cracked the solder points inside the amplifier. Check it out and see . Post your results.

I think you are right now that i think about it the sub box had 2 amps on it and the one for the highs ground terminal bent up. I never checked the sub amp but im sure the ground probbaly is screwed up because both amps were grounded 2 one 4 guage wire that was bolted down tight to the chassis and it never would have moved.Ill look in th eamp and see if i see anything at the ground terminal, thanks.
