Ok, so maybe I'm not a total newb, but I still need some help.
I'm installing a Boss MP3-C400 (RF Modulated 10 disc changer) in my wife's 2000 Sunfire.
I've gotten everything connected correctly (as far as I know), but my problem is that the sound is only clear if the volume is very low. When you try to turn it up, there's just a loud, deep humming noise. Turning the bass down helps a tad, but not a lot.
Did I miss something? The only thing that I can think is that the ground isn't very good. I ran the wire out the door, under the hood, and connected it to a hood hinge bolt. I scuffed the paint off as best I could. Does a bad ground cause this sort of problem?
Thanks!
Eric

Yes . . Also, you will have to accept the fact that the signal is coming over the RF and through the tuner, which is not high quality sound.
There are people who say you will never HEAR the audible difference in the vehicle environment, but those are people who only have 1932 AM radios, and have no hearing left.

Since you already ran the ground wire to the hood, you might as well keep going and run it to the negative on the battery. And no matter what, it won't sound as good. I've heard of people adding a signal booster to their antenna and then running that through the modulater and also using a line noise filter and having pretty good results. But it probably won't sound as good as what she wants.
