2001 Chrysler LHS stereo installation

I have a question for anyone that can help me out. I have a pioneer deh 650 that I was thinking of installing in my 2001 chrysler lhs. The reason I wanted to also install this is cause I also want to add xm radio with it, so I ended up getting the modulator and everything. Now the question I have is, I have stereo in the car, that has the tape and the stereo, and a little bit below it is the cd player that holds 4 cds, that you can play. Both of these are factory stereos, that were already in the vehicle. Im wondering, if I replace the part of the stereo that has the tape deck cause it looks like the cd player part that holds 4 cds seems to be seprate from the tape deck, would I still be able to use it. I mean cause I want to put the pioneer deck in and still be able to use the cd player thats in the vechile. I also got the steering wheel interface so I am able to use the steering wheel functions on the pioneer. And like I said, I got the gex-910 pioneer modulator for the xm radio, along with the antenna. If someone could answer this ques. I would greatly appreciate it. thx

I have not seen the particular setup you describe in an LHS, but the general answer to your question is no.  In general, OEM "premium" stereos like you describe need all original components installed for any of them to function.  Remove everything and get the proper dash mount kit for your car.  Your new Pioneer has a CD player, eh?

As far as keeping the steering wheel controls, several companies make adapters for these, like this one from PAC.

Well the reason I say if I can do this is cause well, this is how my cd player looks like as far as factory goes, and like I said I figured I can take out the part where the tape deck is and still be able to use the cd changer part. Can anyone let me know if I can. thx

From what I can tell by looking at the Chrysler wiring diagram for your car, the stereo system cannot be split.  It's either use it as installed or remove it all.

Your dealer may be able to tell you something different, or there may be an adapter i don't know anything about.
