Running 4g power from battery to a fused distribution block.  after that I have two 8g wires running to my amp and power inverter (from block).

now.......... I have two more open slots in the block. I need to hook up a 12volt DVD player and an LCD conveted to 12volt.  both have puny little power wires.   My question is......... how do I get the 8 gauge from the block to the units little power wires?  straight connection can't be ok.  Even if its fused (5amp) at the block.

any one?

What I mean to say is........

Can I take an 8g power wire which is fused at the block for 5amps and just connect it to a tiny 14 gauge power wire? Straight?

is this a fire hazard.

Thanks for help in advance

Aslong as the fuse is rated for 5 amps there is no risk of fire. The 5 amp fuse in the dist. block is to protect the car. Be careful to run your wires so they won't get cut or short circuited to ground. Even if they did, the 5 amp fuse would blow long before any wire damage or fire could occur.

There is no need to run 8 AWG from the distribution block to your DVD or whatever.  Assuming the block has standard screw-down terminals, simply run your 14 gage to the block and connect it up.  Make sure the fuse is the correct size and you're done.
