basic speaker question

The factory Infinity system on my Dodge had amps on the rear speakers, coming out of the amp were a blue and white wire to the speaker terminals.  The head unit died and I replaced with aftermarket so the factory amps were too much.  I have bypassed them but there is no label on the terminals so I don't know which is + and which is -.  I turned it on low and it has out put either way, but I am not looking to do damage.  Does it really matter and can I determine this?

With speakers you can switch from neg to pos without hurting anything but theres only one right combo :)---- 1996 Chevy S10 ----
