installing a sony explode 1600 watt amp with a Boss MP3-3030R head unit,  with everything hooked up noticed a voltage drop to 8 volts when i turned on the head unit.  it was 12 volts without head unit on.  when i disconnected the power ant line from the amp, there was no voltage drop.   What am i missing?   does my head unit have a problem??

thanks

Was the car running?  Could be you just have a bad battery.

Then yes, it sounds like the HU is shorting out your electrical system.  Get is repaired (or replaced).
