hi,
i have a 97 honda civic ex; i'm trying to get my keyless entry to work again (installed an aftermarket cd deck).
so i plug in the old one, just to check and see if it works. the dome light doesn't work, and the only keyless entry function that works is the driver's side door unlocks (after pressing the unlock button a few times). nothing else works.
does anybody have any ideas? would reprogramming my remote help?
also, does anyone have a wiring diagram for the keyless entry connector (the one that's green)?
thanks in advance!

ok ive done these before.  you have to buy a special harness made for the keyless entry model civic.  Metra makes one for it. and you have to give power ground and acc to the old radio because the keyless entry module is actually in that radio. so thats why ur keyless dont work anymore when u put a new headunit in.  you can shove the radio down under the radio location, its hard but its possible ive done it before.  if not, run wires to the trunk and keep the radio in there. good luck

as far as your domelight is concerned you have to connect two wires: lt.GREEN/ red and lt.GREEN/ black.  these two wires are in the green plug.  just jumper them together and your domelight will work again.

hi guys,
thanks for all the info. i think i should make my post a little bit clearer, so you guys know exactly what i'm asking.
i installed plugged the old (OEM) radio back in to see if the keyless entry would work or not. but what happens is what i described previously (only unlock of driver's door works, and only intermittently; dome light doesn't work).
so my question is: is there any way to figure out if something's wrong with the radio itself or the electrical connections?
