OK. I have a 93 Ford Taurus. I just made a new rear deck out of fiberglass. First time with glass. I'm mounting my subs on that and have a question. I want to know if I can wire 3 subs to 2 amps. The amps are Audiobahn A1500HCT and the subs are Audiobahn AW1208T. The amps put out 500@4, 1000@2, and 2000@1 ohm. The speakers handle 1500 RMS and have dual 2 ohm voice coils. I had 2 speakers wired with both amps at 1ohm each. Anyways, how would I wire all 3 with just the 2 amps and still have good bass. I want the most bass possible. Also when I build my box in the trunk under the deck what kind of box should I use. Audiobahn says ported but how should I do it. Thanks a lot anyone that helps me. Peace

No, do not wire the three subs to two amps, not a good idea. The safe bet for you is to wire each sub in series to make it a single 4 ohm load and then parallel all three subs together for about a 1.3 ohm load and wire them to only one amp. The most bass possible is going to come from the box design for the most part. A ported box built properly with the right port in the right spot will give either great sound or great SPL, depending on which type of system you want to go for. I am not that familiar with the capabilities of these subs so I will not pursue any type of recommended box for them but I am sure that one of the other guys on the forum can recommend something.  If you want to use both amps, then continue to use only the two subs, one to each amp and sell of the third sub.
Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

I got the subs wired in parallel now at 1 ohm each. So if i did all 3 and it was a 1.3 load or sumthin that would be pretty close to the same power rite? So would I get more bass doing that or like they were? Also how would I wire all 3 in series and then parallel to the amp cuz it's only a 1 channel amp? If i want tha most bass what type of port should I use? Audiobahn's website says 2 ports 4 inches in diameter and about 14 inches long but I wanted to know if I would get better bass by doing a slotted port. I mean SPL bass not SQ or whatever.

Wiring Subs, 3 subs to 2 amps -- posted image.

This is what Rob described.  The voice coils are wired in series, then the subs are wired in parallel.  Also, about your question of switching to a slotted port...contact the Audiobahn tech support for a recommendation on that one.  Their interest is to give you loud bass, the way they recommend in the manual for your subs.  They want their subs to perform loud and not fall apart doing so, so the ports they have spec'd out will give you the maximum.  They may not  perform well with a different port design...that's why it would be a good idea to talk to a tech guy at the company for an opinion on that.

And your sig line is in need of a change, too, if you don't mind.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

So what there be a big difference in bass if I went with the 1 amp and all 3 speakers? Also I'd have to mount all 3 in the rear deck of the car which I'm still working on and I have to make the box under them in the trunk. So if I go with all 3 I dont think I can get as much air space as I could using just 2 without sacrificing my whole trunk. And whats wrong with my sig line?
