I suppose I'll start off by explaining my setup because it has to be something wrong with that.
I have a Sony deck that's around 7 years old feeding a Kicker 5ch amp which is pushing a component 6.5" + tweeter set in the rear, and a pair of 5.25" midranges + tweets in the front. The sub channel is pushing two 10" subs. The deck has no speakers attached, only RCAs (front + rear only...sub runs off of rear). I also have a 6 disc CD/MP3 player in the loop.
Had no problems with this until about 2 weeks ago when I decided to rerun all of my audio cables wires. When I turned it all back on, it worked just dandy when I hit the radio (it had less engine noise which was my goal)...BUT....
PROBLEM: No sound...not even engine noise when it's cranked can be heard when a CD is played. The CD player counts and displays track/disc info as if it's functioning fine, but no audio. This also goes for my 6 disc MP3 changer-- no sound from any disc anywhere, but the player displays track/disc info and counts the time. But the radio works PERFECTLY.
MORE: Today I got a new CD player and hooked it up...SAME RESULTS!! How can this be? What am I missing?? The radio works, but when I try to play a CD the player acts as tho it's working but with no sound at all...not even a faint hum!!
PLEEEASE HELP!!! RADIO IS GETTING OLD FAST!!!
THANKS in advance!!

is it possible you hooked up the power antenna wire instead of  the amp remote wire for turn on?   this will give you the exact problem you are describing.....

Verify that the amp is turned on when the cd player is. If it is, disconnect all of the rca cables from the amp and plug them in one at a time, see if you get sound. If the system works on AM/FM and not on CD, then you have not connected the remote on lead. You more than likely have connected the power antenna lead which gives +12v only when the tuner is used.

Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

FIXT IT! You were both right...had the power ant. wire running the amp instead of the remote on!   And when I was hooking it back up, I hooked up the wrong wire AGAIN!! D'OH!! In any case, it's working beautifully...now I just have to get the tonal settings perfected!
THANKS AGAIN!
