A friend of mine wants to get a system for his Sport Trac (2001 I I think).  He wants to buy from a local shop becasue if you buy everything from them they will install it for $20.  Plus it is a sort of complex install, it has the Pioneer premium sound system (6" sub, small amp, 6 speakers, and a  6 disc cd changer).  The shop carries JL, Memphis, Orion, some Eclipse stuff and Directed Xtreme (anyone had any Xperience (hahaha) with those?).  He wants to spend $800-1000, thats for just the sub, amp, wiring and  box.  He wants it to be LOUD, he wants people to hear him coming, SQ isnt the biggest concern.  I suggested either 2 Orion P12s, or 2 of the similar Memphis 12s in a ported box.  For the amp either a Memphis or Orion 1000W. He was thinking the 12W3, would 2 of those be as loud?  These subs will be in the back seat, most likely built into the back wall or something, im not sure what the shop has in mind.

I have an ST and the storage area behind the seats will not allow you to place 12s in there without cutting into the wall of the truck.

If he is going to actually install them in the backs of the seats then that is different, but will cost him more and he can say bye-bye to ever having his seats folded down.

I am building a custom box for mine that will fit in the storage area, hold 2 10s and allow room for the amp to be mounted on the other storage door.  The seats will fold down and not be hindered by anything under them or sticking out of the back.  The only bad thing is that I will loose what little inside storage space I had.

If you have one foot in today and one foot in yesterday, you will piss on today.
