I have a pair or 8 ohm speakers and i wish to install them in my car. However, the factory speakers were 4 ohms. I took apart my 8 ohm speakers (they are two ways) only to find that the woofer and tweeter were both 4 ohms, they were just wired in parallel to make them 8 ohms. I was wondering if i bought a two way crossover, would that keep the impeadance at 4 ohms? Also, does impedance matter when it comes to crossovers? I have seen many 8 ohm crossovers but no 4ohm, i was just wondering if it matters.

Hi Ben, yes, impedance matters when bulding a crossover. If you build your crossover correctly for a 4 ohm tweeter and 4 ohm mid/woofer, you will have a 4 ohm nominal impedance at the amplifier. For more info on passive crossovers, go here:  https://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/cross.asp

BTW, if you had an 8 ohm impedance with two 4 ohm speakers, they were wired in series, not parallel.
