I have a 2002 trailblazer, non-bose, with on-star.  I was wondering if GM ever made a Stock CD player that included XM that could be swapped in. I really dont want to stick the factory radio under the seat to add a aftermarker radio, and the XM modulated ones sound bad. I also heard GM changed the data platform they used in 2003 or 2004 not really sure what that means, but from what I understand those newer radios are not interchangeable. Any info would be helpfull. If you have one with XM does it have 'XM' printed on the front  of the radio? Thanks!!!   Jim

GM added factory XM in O3'. You can put an 03' radio in an 02' vehicle. There are interfaces to retain Onstar when putting in a aftermarket deck. You do not have to relocate your radio if you use these interfaces. It will not say XM on the radios that have factory XM. Your best option to get XM in your vehicle is to get an aftermarket radio and add XM to it.

You will also need the factory XM antenna because the factory and aftermarket antennas are completely different.  It''s more complicated than just swapping out HU.

Soundgate makes a couple of interfaces that let you add aftermarket XM/Changers/Auxillary inputs to the factory radio - depending on the model of the factory radio. For example - PIOGM1 lets you add PIONEER's XM tuner, a 6 or 12 disc changer, an RCA audio input, or all three together - controlled thru the GM head unit. I suggest you go to www.soundgate.com & look around and download the catalog. If you go aftermarket XM you'll need to add an antenna.
Experience gained is directly proportional to the amount of equipment destroyed - break it & learn!
