Can you give some more details on the sub and/or pictures of what the wires look like or describe them?
It all depends on whether the sub is powered (meaning it is in a box with an inbuilt amp) or just a sub in a box, which needs an external amp. If the cd player you have has a subwoofer output then you connect that the amp and amp to the Sony sub, if not you will need a 3 way splitter(called a crossover network) and connect the output to this and connect your sub to the crossover. Many ways to go about this.
Please post more details and I am sure someone here will be able to assist you better. The more details you give, the better will be your assistance.
