i am biamping my quart pce-216's. on the tweeters i have an old alpine 2 channel amp. it is 30rmsx2. i have the option to use an older sony es amp that is 15x2. i have heard good things about their old gear, but am unsure because their modern stuff sounds about as good as a coffee can exhaust tip. what are peoples opinions on the old sony es amps?

I still use the old Sony ES stuff and think it is great.  Sony used to make some of the best equipment in car audio until they came out with the Xplod stuff.  Although I don't have any experience with their amplifiers, based on their other stuff I would expect it to be a great amp.

Agreed.  Sony ES is excellent top of the line gear from the time when Sony cared about quality over profit.  Highly recomended.
