Orion 2100 HCCA

According to the Orion manual the 2100 HCCA is not rated for 1/2 ohm stereo. It is only rated @ 1 ohm stereo. The 225 and 250 HCCA are rated for 1/2 an ohm. As long as you can provide the voltage and amperage it might be ok. It will run hot!

There was not much of a difference if any between the two, the change in the labeling was to keep it current with the other HCCA amps. The Digital Reference is the older version, the Competiton Amplifier model received the name change as a result of the 225 and 250 HCCA amps getting internal crossovers . This amp was designed to run 1ohm stereo / 2 ohm mono minimum. They are great amps, but make sure to feed them the power they need, otherwise they won't last long. The other thing to check is that the internal fuses have been changed from 30A to 40A. The amp will blow the 30A fuses before reaching it's full potential. Normally, you shouldn't replace a fuse with larger rated fuse, but in this instance, this advice came from Orion, who put the smaller fuses in there to protect the amps from abuse.
