I just recently got new speakers and a headunit.  I have an AVH-P7500 Pioneer h/u, Kenwood component speakers up front and Infinity Kappas in the back and all of them are amped with a 4 channel 640watt Kenwood amp.  The highs are very nice with a very clear sound and the only thing thats missing is the bass.  I dont know much about sound systems so if you could please help me out.  I want to get some bass in my car so I guess the way to go is to get a sub.  I am just looking for nice good quality bass inside the car without any rattling of the trunk or anything else....so no crazy bass.  What kind of sub and amp combo do I need to get in order to achieve that?  I been told that one 10" sub will do that but what about brand and watts and ohms and all that other stuff.  Also I heard that the type of box its enclosed in will make a difference.  I did some research but didnt seem to find the answer I was looking for.  So what would be a good combination setup?  Thanks a lot in advance.

Well, everybody's FIRST question is going to be "How much do you want to spend?". We need to know this so we can get you into the neighborhood of what you want to spend, aligned with what you want to achieve (which we already know). There are MANY budget levels to do what you are looking to do.
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Rockford Fosgate makes an amplified 6, 8 and 10 inch tube sub, and while I am not the biggest fan of RF overall, this particular product does quite well for what it is designed to do, and for about 1/2 that much money. I think they are discontinued models, but some of your RF dealers may still have some in stock.
Otherwise, their pre-loaded enclosures are quite small - right around 1 cubic foot, and you could add one of the small RF amps that'll put you right in that area.
Other may have other ideas...

You can get a Kappa Perfect 12.1D from www.ikesound.com for ~$150.
You can get a Phoenix Gold Xenon 400.1 for about $150-$200 on ebay.
Perfect.
